My name is Chadwick Miller and I would like to nominate myself for the Governance Council.
My Background
I’ve been involved in financial markets since 2007 working for DRW Trading Group which at the time was a medium sized market making firm but which has grown since to a behemoth trading most markets globally. I was first involved with Bitcoin sometime in 2010. Just did a quick google and I was user number 420 on bitcointalk.org NICE. I participated in the Ethereum pre-sale. In 2014 I was the 4th member of Cumberland, DRW’s crypto trading arm, and I believe the first institutional crypto trading desk in the world. From 2014 to 2018 we grew Cumberland, but I was simultaneously running DRW’s European delta one trading desk from London. After 2018 I focussed exclusively on delta one trading growing the team to all asset classes and geographies (which at the end again involved crypto ETFs). In 2021 I semi-retired, moved to Miami to focus on my own portfolio and my family. In 2024 we’ve just launched a new trading firm / partnership initially dealing in defi and on-exchange crypto derivatives (but thus far not active on orca so I wouldn’t think there are conflicts of interest).
Unique Benefits I would bring to the council
I would say my experience in traditional markets might be unique here even though I have plenty of crypto experience. I built a team which traded on dozens of exchanges trading 10s of thousands of products, across all time zones. Along the way we’ve encountered so many unique situations and I’ve got plenty of war stories. Acting as a market maker I would say we had a good insight of what makes exchanges work well and what causes problems.
Additionally my time available is pretty unique. As someone without a regular 9 to 5 I can be pretty flexible and give this project time without it causing me undue stress.
Representing the Best Interests of the Orca community
I commit to being a well informed member of the Governance Council by actively being as involved as I can and ensuring that I have a complete view of the issues that the community is facing. I will always act in the interest of the community.
Top Priorities for 2025
Be ready for the regime change and the massive shift this could mean for crypto. 6 month from now everything might be turned upside down. Instead of the SEC being a headwind it could be a tailwind. What does that mean for Orca?
